HOLDING FAST THE WORD OF LIFE
Monday, February 22, 2016
Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain (Philippians 2:14-16)
On our opening scripture above, the underlined portion verb holding fast contains two thoughts: holding fast and holding forth. The former concept suggests a steadfastness in which our lights (blameless and harmless lives, children of God without faults, full of glory and reflecting the nature of Christ: the light of the world) blaze continually for God. The latter concept implies projecting our lights into the darkness of this world.
If you hold fast the Word of Life (Jesus Christ) you hold forth His picture as the Living Word, when they (the world) look at you they see themselves as new creations, their origin is demonstrated through the picture of Christ that is reflected on them. When they look at you, they see their problems solved, their sicknesses melt and demons tremble in their lives because you carry the light of the world, the word.
The word of God is a mirror that reflects the beauty of Christ in us through us, as we look at this mirror we are being transformed into His image, we become more like Christ; from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). Become the solution to your family and the world; do not form part of the predicaments as a child of God. Hold fast to the word of life and let the light shine to the whole world.
O Lord my God, thank for the revelation of your word as a mirror that reflects the splendour, the beauty and the bliss of Christ that resides in me. I declare and I decree that I am like Christ, death is not my portion, poverty is not my portion, fear of the known and the unknown is not my portion but glory be unto God that I am predestined to prosper in all my daily activities as God blessed all the work of my hands in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Acts 20:32 (The more you look into God’s Word, the more you become what it says you are); Romans 10:17 (The more you behold the mirror of God the more faith is bestowed upon you); James 1:25 (Be not just a hearer of the word but a doer so that you may be blessed in all your deeds); 1 John 4:17 (We are like Christ); Colossians 3:4 (My heart is Christ’s permanent residential address).
