"...even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), [6] and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:5-6)."

We were once dead in our trespasses and sins but He made us alive (Vv.1). If something is dead it literally has no life in it. Everything concerning it is dead. The word dead is translated from the  Greek word 'nekus' which means a corpse or a deceased. The one who has departed from life to either heaven or hell, but in this context it refers to spiritual death.

We were living according to the demands of the flesh, we were enemies with God and did nothing to please Him. No matter how much we gave our efforts to something but still there was no results evidenced. Everything invested  effort was in vein. Our dreams were dead. There was no hope at all. We were dead and above all sick even in our bodies.

Praise be to  God whom by the same power that He raised Christ from the deceased has quickened us back to life. It is by grace that we have been saved. It is no human efforts or goods deeds. We were dead, what good can come out from the dead? Absolutely nothing. But by His grace He made us alive (breathed life to our spirits). Today everything concerning us is alive. Our dreams are alive; our vision is alive and all shall come to pass because of His grace.

Dear precious Lord Jesus, thank you for quickening my spirit. I refuse to have a dead mentality. As long as I live, everything concerning my life is alive. My finances; my marriage; my career; my spirituality. I am alive in Jesus' name. Amen.
